In the weeks since the passing of David Bowie, we’ve seen the likes of Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M., Sleater-Kinney, and Spoon pay tribute by covering select songs from the great music innovator’s expansive discography. Last night, Miguel followed suit during a small gig in Los Angeles.
Accompanied by nothing more than an acoustic guitar, the R&B singer offered up a quiet take on the Thin White Duke classic “Space Oddity”, as Noisey points out. Miguel is often known for his electrifying live performances, hips gyrating and all, which made his subdued rendition feel all the more poignant. His cover eventually segued into his Wildheart track “Waves”.
